SDI Open Water Diver (SDI)

Course Overview:

The purpose of the Open Water Course is to provide students with the elementary knowledge and skills they need to safely gain experience in the diving environment and ultimately, to dive independently. During the course you will complete 5 academic modules, 5 confined water modules, and 4 open water dives. When you complete the course you are eligible to dive as a certified diver.

Academic Training:

• 5 academic modules, combining self study, audio visual and classroom lectures to gain maximum effect.

Confined Water Training:

• 4 confined water modules to learn and develop essential diving skills.

Open Water Dives:

• 4 open water dives where students apply what they have learned in confined water and classroom training sessions.

Course Details:

Academic Home Study must be completed prior to attending the first classroom session. A copy or the original completed ‘Knowledge Quest Answer Booklet’ must be turned in at that time in order for student to continue with course.

Classroom Location:

• Scuba Shack, 141 Hotchkiss St., Gravenhurst

Pool Location:

• Centennial Pool, Manitoba Street / Douglas Dr., Bracebridge

Equipment Supplied:

• by Scuba Shack throughout entire course including open water - Tank, Regulator, B.C., Dive Computer, All Air Fills, Student Manuals and Video

Student Supplies:

• (for pool) - Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Weight Belt & 6 lb. weight, wet suit boots

Student Supplies:

• (for open water) - Pool Equipment plus - full 1/4" wet suit, weight (approx. 15% of your body weight + 5 lbs.), log book.

Be sure to have all required equipment prior to the Saturday morning of your open water dives. You may rent any of the required equipment from Scuba Shack, pick it up on Wednesday prior to your dives and pay regular week-end rates. This gives you 2 free days to get prepared.

Students are responsible for their own transportation
to & from the proper locations.

Deposit:

• $100.00 plus G.S.T at time of booking. Balance due at the beginning of the course.
